Timeline Event Chronology
10/10/1945
5:00 AM - 6:00 AM
They arrive in October 10, 1945 at 5 AM, 12 days before the tunnel
opened, and drive onward to the RR Tunnel. The tunnel is nearly finished, but
still closed off to the general public. However, there doesn't appear to be
anyone around at this time.
Marty and Doc drive past the "Do not enter" signs, and park on the side of the tunnel road. Doc gets out, asking Marty to stay with the car, and hurries to where the secret door should be in the future. It is still a big metal door and when Doc swipes the card through it still opens as before. Giving Marty a thumbs up, he hurries down the stairs. The place looks nearly the same as it will 10 years from now and is empty of all persons.
Doc goes to the computer terminal in the back and turns it on.
However, only the plans.vid is on the desktop. It seems TORO will be busy
gathering all the information it has accumulated by 1955 during the next 10
years.
Poor Marty was hoping to find a gaping hole with a big computer in
it. But it seems as long as the tunnel is standing the door is the only access,
and 12 days away from completion of the tunnel isn't far enough removed for the
tunnel not to be there (that's my reasoning anyway - feel free to tell my why
I'm wrong!).
Marty, while waiting for Doc, reloads the time machine. They're
down to 5 pellets now and probably should have a few more time travel skill
points.
He waits on the hood of the car, keeping an eye out.
Doc reloads the CD into the computer and it brings up the files he
downloaded in '55:
plans.vid
locations.vid
wadotat.vid
nifadot.vid
brown.vid
mcfly.vid
alpha.vid
omega.vid
Doc first clicks on the Alpha.vid. Images relating to the following
voiceover appear:
"Alpha is the name given to the timeline that first existed before
any time travel occurred. This timeline was officially erased on October 26th,
1985 at 1:20 AM with the world's first temporal displacement. The first time
traveler was the dog of Doctor Emmett L. Brown, inventor of the world's first
time machine. This successful trip eliminated the alpha timeline forever and
began the course of events that would eventually lead to the final creation of
the Omega timeline, the one timeline recognized by the world leaders as the
official timeline of the world.
"Little is known of this never-been timeline. Undoubtedly the
major changes of the Omega timeline, centralized to Hill Valley and to the
relations of Marty McFly and Doctor Brown, never occurred, leaving McFly's
parent unsuccessful and Emmett Brown forever in 1985. However, any speculation
on the Alpha timeline is just that, as the Alpha timeline can never be
recreated. Even if the first time trip were to be prevented, the Alpha timeline
would still involve a time traveler in it, and so could not be the original,
time travel-free timeline known as Alpha."
The vid ends and Doc plays the Omega.vid:
"Omega is the name of the final timeline following Doctor
Brown's final journey through time. On the morning of October 26, 1985, Marty
McFly was sent accidently back to 1955 in Doctor Brown's DeLorean time machine.
Through a set of unfortunate accidents, he prevented his parents from meeting,
and with the help of Brown's 1955 counterpart was able to bring them back
together and return to 1985.
"This caused the first major deviation to the timeline, known
to many as the "Lone Pine" timeline, in which McFly's parents are a
success and not failures as in the Alpha timeline. Doctor Brown then travels to
2015 later that morning, only to return to collect Marty and his girlfriend to
return to the future to prevent McFly's future children from going to jail.
This plan is a success, but ultimately leads to Biff Tannen stealing the time
machine and a sports almanac and giving it to his 1955 counterpart, to create a
corrupt 1985 timeline in which Biff Tannen is powerful and rich and rules all
of Hill Valley and is a superior power in the world.
"By returning to 1955, Doctor Brown and Marty McFly are able
to prevent Biff from becoming rich by reclaiming the almanac and burning it, restoring
the "Lone Pine" timeline almost exactly. However, due to a stray
lightening bolt, Doctor Brown is sent to 1885 where he is trapped with a
malfunctioned time machine. He llives there for 8 months before burying the
time machine and sending a letter to be deliver to McFly in 1955 with
instructions on how to repair it.
"With Brown's 1955 counterpart, McFly is able to do so, and
returns to 1885 to bring Brown home. But because the time machine has run out
of gas and Doctor Brown meets the love of his life in Clara Clayton, they
cannot return immidiately. Through a series of circumstances, Marty is able to
return home in the DeLorean, but Brown is left behind in 1885. He spends the
next 10 years perfecting a time machine out of a steam engine. He returns ot
1985 to say goodbye to McFly and get his dog, and then returns to 1885 to live
out the rest of his life.
"It is after Doc's final trip back to 1885 that the Omega
timeline is cut off. No time travel outside of or within these events is
considered part of this Omega timeline that is the official timeline of the
world."
Doc stares at the screen in shock. He can't believe all that stuff
is supposed to happen to him and Marty. But he quickly shakes it off and plays
the WADOTAT and NIFADOT videos.
The WADOTAT video starts:
"The World Association for Displacement Of Time and Ascention
to Transcendence, or WADOTAT is one of the first underground Temporal
Displacement Organizations to be formed. Formed by an unknown man known as the
Hour Glass, their intentions are to rule the underworld with the use of time
travel. By sending their men forward and backwards through time, they were able
to expand their organization pass that of the mafia and take over as the one
true criminal organization in the world. By this time time travel had been
deemed illegal and TORO was set up to undo all the activities of WADOTAT.
"It was also around this time that WADOTAT gained a formidable
enemy organization known as NIFADOT. WADOTAT and NIFADOT would continue to wage
war against one another as TORO went about locating these organizations in time
and eliminating them."
The WADOTAT vid end and Doc clicks on the NIFADOT vid (to be
revealed in next post).
Doc clicks on the NIFADOT video.
(Okay, guys, here goes. My uber super reveal that I've been trying
to hold off on for as long as possible. No guys stealing DeLoreans or guys in
blue suits to prevent seeing it this time. Here goes! )
"The National Instute and Federation of Allied Doubles to
Overrule Time, or NIFADOT, is a collection of beings who were brought together
under a man known as The Other. Brought together shortly before time travel was
declared illegal, the purpose of the organization was, at first, to protect
against the persecution of people known as echoes.
"An echo is the term used for a person who was created by a
timeline to, in essence, prevent a paradox from occuring. Because a paradox
cannot, by definiton, occur, the timeline creates these echoes as placeholders
to act and behave in ways to prevent a paradox.
"The first echo known to exist is Biff Tannen. An echo of
Tannen's 2015 self was created as a placeholder for the 2015 almanac to be
given to Tannen and prevent a paradox. However, because this Tannen did not
exist in his time, the echo was erased shortly thereafter.
"However, many echoes were not erased. Soon doubles of people
who time traveled long after Marty and Brown's final time trips left began
showing up, and it is believe that it is the Tannen echo which opened the
floodgates.
"For years echoes were persecuted, until laws were passed
giving echoes the rights of their doubles. However, people still did not
consider them human, and so NIFADOT was created under the rule of The Other. It
wasn't long before NIFADOT grew into an underground organization, bent on
ruling the world, and making echoes more powerful than their doubles who were
born in the current timelines. It is for this reason that NIFADOT seeks to keep
the Omega timeline intact, so that the first Tannen echo, and all subsequent echoes
will be born and their organization can continue to exist."
The video ends.
Doc puts on the locations video.
"The following is a map of known locations of WADOTAT and
NIFADOT throughout time ..."
A map marking off the high school, Mr. Foster's Travel Service, and
the Drive-Thru Movie are marked in red. Another shows the flower shop, the
clayton ravine and the clocktower marked off in green.
Doc then clicks on the McFly video and listens as it rattles off
Marty's history (sorry, don't feel like writing it all out - let Shandy tell
it ).
Doc takes in all this info and then ejects the disk and returns to
the RR Tunnel to relay all he has learned to Marty.
Marty and Doc discuss all the information they have learned. They
don't believe they can trust WADOTAT and NIFADOT, and feel that these 2 must be
removed from power in some way. NIFADOT's original cause was admirable, but now
its empire seems to have grown into something totally different. TORO seems to
be, relatively speaking, on Marty and Doc's side, but want to keep them out of
everything, which Marty and Doc are not willing to do. They'd rather avoid TORO
whenever possible.
They then decide to try one of the locations on the map. One of
WADOTAT's locations was the clock tower, and Marty suggests they hit that
first.
6:00
AM - 6:10 AM
Marty and Doc drive to the clock tower and Doc decides to go in, leaving Marty to guard the DeLorean.
Doc goes to the front of the court house and looks around. It looks
pretty much like it did in '55 from the outside. Steps leading forward, 4
pillars reaching up and a door leading inside before it. He examines the
exterior but finds nothing suspicious outside.
Doc cautiously goes up the steps, making sure no one will jump out
and attack him. Everything seems quiet. He raches the top of the steps and
opens the door and steps into the court house. A door to one side can be seen,
as well some pews for an audience, as well as a jury box and a judging area - a
place for a judge to sit and for the defendent and prosecution. Another door up
further can be seen. The room seems empty besides these things upon first
glance.
Doc approaches the judging area and examines it fully. But there is
nothing out of the ordinary at either the judge's seat, the
defendent/persecution's seat, or the jury box.
Doc walks through the door in the back of the room. It is
Jury Room. A big table with chairs can be seen and pictures on the wall.
Exploring it carefully, Doc finds nothing hidden in this room.
Doc goes back to the other door and steps into it. A row of long
stairs reaching up to the top of the clock can be seen. He explores this room
carefully and finds a little door in the side of the stairs that is not locked.
Though tempted to check out the clock. Doc peers into the
compartment under the stairs. It looks like it's intended for storing stuff,
and he finds a bunch of courtroom items: gavels, briefcases, robes, etc. Doc
pulls these items out to investigate the little room and finds a locked trap
door in the ground that needs a key to open it.
+3 time travel skill for Doc and Marty and +2 missions accomplished
to them for figuring out WADOTAT and NIFADOT.
Doc tries his darndest to break the lock with his screwdriver. No, it
seems to be sealed by some sort of electronics that tightly holds the door in
place and can't be activated until the key lock is turned.
Doc searches through the items he found in the compartment for
anything helpful, but doesn't find anything useful.
Marty, getting bored with have DeLorean-sitting duty, throws some
boxes on the car and decides to check out Mr. Foster's since it was marked on
the locations.vid map. He ppers into the window and sees a big room with desks
and chairs. Looks like a normal place to go to plan a trip.
Marty hurries back to the DeLorean, afraid to leave it for too
long. He's gonna play with he boxes while he's waiting for Doc to get back.
After building a box fort, Marty decides to try the backdoor of Mr.
Foster's, so he can explore it and keep an eye on the time machine at the same
time.
There's a backdoor and he finds it unlocked.
6:10
AM - 6:20 AM
Marty peers into the door. Same stuff he saw before, and a man
wandering around, trying to look busy. Suddenly the man's pager goes off and he
glances at it. He picks up his phone and calls a number.
"Yeah. Yeah. No problems. No. TORO hasn't explored our
organization here yet. No. 1985? Damn! All right. I'll get the records and
bring them to the Clayton Ravine. HG will be there? Got it. On my way."
The man hangs up and quickly goes through a door leading to another
room in the building and disappears.
Marty is quick to realize that the man is going to meet Hour Glass
and quickly returns to the DeLorean, discarding the boxes and revs up to the
clock tower, hoping that Doc will hear the car approach ...
Doc, hearing the DeLorean, throws all the stuff back in the
compartment and closes it up and rushes downstairs to meet Marty, asking what's
going on.
Marty tells Doc what he heard and Mr. Foster's and Doc hops in the
DeLorean and drive back to Clayton Ravine. Doc will have DeLorean-sitting duty
this time around. They park behind a big boulder, Marty gets his gun and Doc
holds onto his pipe. They cover the time machine with brush and Marty begins to
sneak outside of the car, using a branch as disguise.
In the distance the Nixon-masked man and Reiley Strickland stand
near the edge of the ravine. Reiley paces impatiently while Nixon-mask smokes a
cigarette through his mask.
Marty climbs behind some boulders, close enough to hear what the
two men, but not to be seen.
Soon a car drives up to the ravine and parks. Out comes the man
from the Foster store, a case of CDs in his arms.
"You have them?" asks Reiley.
"Yes," says the man. "TORO won't be getting their
hands on this information in 1985 now. All the information about NIFADOT and
its leader is here. Now where's my payment? I'd like to get my retirment money
and sneak off to a new time to retire and a start a new life. No NIFADOTs or
WADOTATs."
Reiley takes the case of CDs and hands it to Nixon-mask who
examines them. He then nods his approval.
"Your payment in full," says Reiley, pulling out a gun
and shooting the man through the chest.
The man collapses and then his entire body fades from existence.
"That's one less of those freak echoes to worry about,"
says Nixon-mask. "Let's get this information back to our base."
The two men then turn around and head for their black car, parked a
few lengths behind them.
6:20
AM - 9:00 AM
Marty acts, and as the two men turn to leave he shoots Nixon-mask
in the back and Reiley in the side. Both cry with pain and fall to the ground.
"Dammit, we're under attack!" cries Nixon-mask.
Doc arrives on the scene just as the men fall, gasping at what
happened.
Nixon-mask quickly reaches into his belt, pulling a device from his
belt. Pulling the disks close to him, he pushes some buttons and a blue orb
encircles him and he disappears with a flash! Marty, too shocked at first by what
he sees, isn't able to fire again (if he had wanted to) before Nixon-mask is
gone.
Reiley grabs his own device and begins to push some buttons shortly
after Nixon-mask has vanished.
Doc races forward and grabs the device out of Reiley's hand. He demands
to know what Reiley's real name is.
"My real identity isn't important," says Reiley.
"Kill me if you want. I won't say a word! You will be killed Brown, and
soon WADOTAT will rule the world! Mark my words!"
Marty picks up the device and examines it, then goes and looks in
the men's car. He finds a notebook inside.
"You'll know soon enough, if you haven't figured it out by
now," says the man. "Soon it will be the only name that
matters!"
Marty grabs the notebook and goes through it. Lots of scribbled
words, documenting the history of WADOTAT from what appears to be Reiley
Strickland's perspective, including past wars with NIFADOT.
Doc muses over how to prevent all this stuff from happening, then
asks where the man from Foster's body is.
"He was an echo," says Reiley. "He never truly
existed. Just an accident. When he ceased to live the timeline erased him once
and for all. I am afraid he is nothing but a faint memory, as soon will be
NIFADOT itself."
Doc asks Reiley what happened to the real Reiley Strickland.
"He's dead," says Reiley. "He was not needed and was
only in the way. We needed an in to 1985 and Strickland was it. Claiming his
identity helped get me into the high school without NIFADOT being aware so that
I could confront McFly. Too bad he slipped through my fingers."
Marty searches through the notebook for any info on Hour Glass. He
finds a nice lengthy article and begins reading: "This is an account of
The Hour Glass for the records, so that the world can know its future world
leader. Our leader, known as Hour Glass, was born in Hill Valley. He rose to
power as a crimelord late in his life, pushed by his father to become an
accomplishment in life before he died. Hour Glass's true identity is ..."
As Marty reads the pages he sees the text slowly fade from sight!
Reiley gives a cry of pain and doubles over before he can answers
any of Doc's questions.
"Ack! Now my service to WADOTAT ends," he says with a
gasp. "At least I shall be wiped from history and not become one of
them!"
With a gasp Reiley Strickland, or whoever he truly was, fades from
existence.
Marty and Doc find that they still have the device that Reiley had
tried to use before he was erased. It has a destination display and time
departed display, but it would seem that there is no way to find out where Hour
Glass went with his device.
Both exhausted by this point, they decide to curl up inside the
time machine and take a nap before they proceed onto their next mission. They
fall into a restless sleep, a bit anxious about being discovered by someone,
but too tired to do anything about it.
9:00 AM - 9:10 AM
Doc awakens at 9:00 that morning, beeling a bit refreshed. Deciding
to let Marty sleep a bit longer, he grabs the time travel device from Reiley
and examines it. It looks like a Figure-8, like the previous devices, but it is
more rugged, as if not manufactured, but duplicated from the originals. It's a
lot bulkier than the orginals too. Three screens for DESTINATION TIME, PRESENT
TIME, and TIME DEPARTED are available, with a key pad below it, much like the
DeLorean.
The DESTINATION TIME says "October 26, 1985 12:00 AM."
The PRESENT TIME says "October 10, 1945 9:04 AM."
The TIME DEPARTED says "October 25, 1985 10:00 PM."
Deciding that Hour Glass has likely fled back to 1985, the same
location Reiley was headed to, Doc wakes Marty and they refuel the DeLorean.
They put in the destination time: October 26, 1985 12:10 AM and accelerate to
88 mph.
1955
11/4/1955
5:45 - 6:00 AM
Doc and Marty decide they should go to the past before the
headquarters was destroyed. Marty refuels and they accelerate to November 4th,
1955 5:45 AM.
Once they are one day before the headquarters is bombed, they take
off for the River Road Tunnel. As they arrive they see the tunnel is surrounding
by men in blue suits, barracading the tunnel, not letting anyone through.
After debating the subject, Marty and Doc decide that it's best to
first try the bunker in 1955 in the gym as related to them by Lee. They
hurriedly drive to the school and arrive in the parking lot.
Doc decides to stay behind and guard the DeLorean with the items available to him. Marty takes the gun and the CD and quietly sneaks into the school, being very careful not attract any unwanted attention. At one point he sees Strickland guarding the halls, but is able to slip past him and make his way to the gym.
He arrives and explores the gym carefully, eventually finding the
key hole, but he has no way to unlock it and reveal the hidden chamber he was
told about by Lee.
Marty wonders how he could get the door open, or if he could get
there before the door existed, and then he gets an idea. He sneaks back through
the school and returns to Doc, claiming to know what to do next.
Marty reveals his plan to Doc after refueling the time machine and
driving forward away from the school. He wants to get to the headquarters
before they are built in the RR Tunnel. (+1 Intelligince for the idea to
Marty.) They drive forward to 88 MPH and disappear from '55.
11/5/1955
4:00 - 6:00 AM
When the lights stop flashing they find
themselves in the same bunker, but it looks somehow newer. However, the same
items are inside and no one else but them is around. Now their feet are
freezing cold!
Lorraine and George make their way out of the
bunker, using the keys George had to open the door and step into the gym. The
gym is empty, and as they step into the school halls, they too are quiet.
Peering out a window it is clear that there is no one outside. The men in blue
suits are gone. It seems they really have time traveled!
Lorraine and George return to the art room and
squeeze through the window (if they had leaped through they may have gotten
Dexterity points for it! ) In the
parking lot they gaze around. There are maybe 2 or 3 cars parked here. It's
Saturday and 4:00 in the morning. The parking lot seems deserted in the
darkness of the early morn.
George & Lorraine head toward Lyon Estates, using backroads and
the cover of darkness to stay hidden. They want to wait unitl later that night
to see how they first meet, and would like to use the construction area to hide
out for the day. As they walk, Lorraine rattles on about their past, how they
met and fell in love. She must have told this story a thousand nine-hundred and
eighty-five times by now, but it was the most romantic event of her life. Until
today.
They arrive at the construction site within an
hour, darkness still over them.
Lorraine and George go behind the billboard,
cover up with some branches, making themselves makeshift beds, and fall asleep
behind the billboard, grateful to have some rest after their busy day.
5:45 - 6:00 AM
Doc and Marty decide that it's best to head to 1955 to try the card. Marty refuels and they get in the DeLorean and accelerate to 88 mph. They arrive on the morning of November 5, 1955 5:45 AM, before their others selves have even arrived.
Doc asks Marty to stay with the DeLorean while he tires the card.
He approaches the hidden door. The slot is still there, just as before. Doc
swipes the card and the door slides open. A fleight of stairs reaching down
into the darkness below can be seen.
Marty doesn't want to leave the DeLorean alone and asks Doc if
there isn't a way to diconnect the time travel ability from the DeLorean. Doc
uses his handy screwdriver to disconnect the flux capacitor and then he and
Marty head for the doors.
They climb down the stairs and find a vast room. Pillars hold the
ceiling up above them. A huge computer terminal sits on the far end of the
room. Many seats with smaller computers on desks are scattered throughout the
giant room, as well as printers. A printer is also connected to the main
terminal in the back. The room is devoid of any people.
Doc, upon Marty's suggestion, hands his gun to Marty so he can
guard the door, and approaches the terminal on the far side wall and examines
it. He finds a switch and turns the computer on. On the giant screen he sees a
bunch of electronic video files. They are labeled as:
plans.vid
locations.vid
wadotat.vid
nifadot.vid
brown.vid
mcfly.vid
alpha.vid
omega.vid
Doc plays the brown.vid first, wondering what information they have
on him.
A picture of Doc appears on the screen and a voiceover begins.
"Emmett Lathrop Brown was born in 1920 in Hill Valley,
California to parents Martha and Arthur. His parents died when he was only 19
and Brown inheritted his family's fortune. He collected a doctorate in physics
before he hit the age of 30. During these years he was used by noted doctors as
an assistant on the Manhattan Project in which he gained much information on
nuclear developments.
"After graduating college he began his endeavors to become an
inventor, but most of his devices were failures. On November 5th, 1955, Brown
was hit with inspiration and came up with the idea of the flux capacitor, the
device which will later go on to power the world's first time machine. He
spends the next 30 years developing this device and sinking nearly all of his
family funds into it. His house burns down during a failed experiment using his
refrigerator and Brown moves into his family mansion's garage and takes up
permanent residence.
"By 1985 Brown has nearly fully fleshed out the details of the
time machine and sets to work on building it out of a DeLorean model DMC-12
automobile. The creation of this time machine and the subsequent first time
trip erases the Alpha timeline and begins the course of time travels that will
ultimately lead to the Omega timeline."
The video ends here.
After listening to his history, Doc plays the plan.vid.
Various images relating to the following voiceover appear on the
screen:
"The main goal of the Temporal Officers to Restore Omega, or
TORO section of the government is to return all timelines to the orginal Omega
timeline. By doing so, all time travel outside of of the event surrounding the
first human time travelers, Doctor Emmett Brown and Martin McFly, will be
erased from history. This will restore order to the past, present and future
and assure that only the highest powers in the world have access to time
travel. This will succeed in removing all illegal organizations such as WADOTAT
and NIFADOT from using time travel for their own endeavors.
"The sake of the world and bringing sanity to the universe is
imperative, and as issued by the world government, this is the only method to
restore order to history. It is TORO's mission to succeed in this by removing
these organization from all time and completely resotring the Omega timeline."
Doc scans the video files and moves to click on nifadot.vid. As he
does the sound of a roaring engine comes to life outside on the River Road
Tunnel. Muffled voices can also be heard.
Doc quickly cancels the NIFADOT vid and looks for a blank CD. He finds
one on one of the tables.
6:00 - 6:10 AM
Marty races up the stairs to see the gullwing doors open and two
men inside. The engine is started and the men are about to peel out of there!
Marty aims his gun at the men, demanding them to freeze! Instead they
barrel forward, steering straight toward Marty!
Doc slides the blank CD into a slot and sets it to copy the vids.
He then rushes upstairs to try to help Marty. He sees the DeLorean, driven by
two unknown men, driving straight toward him!
Marty fires away at the men, striking the one in the passneger's
seat, but missing the one in the driver's seat. Doc arrives just in time to
pull him out of the way as the car drives away. Doc cries at Marty to shoot out
the tires.
Marty quickly fires away at the tires. Yes, he gets a tire (as well
as hits the bumper a couple times, though not much damage). The car swirves and
comes to a stop just outside the other side of the tunnel. Suddenly a bunch of
men in blue suits come as if from nowhere to surround the DeLorean. They remove
both men and begin arresting them.
Doc tells Marty to keep an eye on the men and makes sure they don't
take the DeLorean. Doc rushes downstairs to grab his CD, but it's still only
half-downloaded.
Marty watches the men carefully as they apprehend the other two
men. Suddenly a few other men leap out and attack the men in the blue suits.
The two sides fight with each other, being thrown over the time machine. All
hell is breaking loose!
Doc searches the room for a weapon. He finds a loose pipe on the
ground and grabs it.
Marty watches on in horror, not sure what to do and hoping they
take each other out. It seems the men in blue are gaining an advantage. One man
breaks from the scuffel and, seeing Marty, takes off toward him.
Doc grabs the pipe and looks at the terminal. Still downloading.
It's a lot of files to compress and put on one little disk, despite the
advanced terminal doing it. It still has at least 1/4 ways to go.
The man has a crazy "I want to kill you" look on his
face.j
6:10 - 6:20 AM
Marty tells the man to stop or he'll shoot, but the man keeps going
so Marty opens fire (to wound or kill?).
Doc hurries back upstairs to see Marty firing away at the man who
runs at him.
Marty fires at the mans knees and ankles, bringing the man to the
ground with a screech. However, he continues to drag himself forward across the
road in Marty's direction.
Meanwhile, Doc runs downstairs to check on the file. 90% done. Just
a bit longer ...
Marty, smartly, saves his bullets (+1 Intelligence) and kicks him
hard in the head, knocking him out.
Doc paces back and forth, waiting for the disk to download. Almost
there. 10.

Done!
Doc ejects the CD and hurries upstairs to join Marty.
Now the battle between the two groups has advanced upon them. All
around them men throw punches and battle viciously. Doc hurries to Marty's
side, trying to stay away from the battle.
Doc gives Marty the CD and has him ditch the step van key, a new
one to be made later. Doc wants to rush for the time machine, Marty put it in
gear while Doc hooks up the flux capactior.
They take off, Doc swinging his pipe at anyone who comes near.
As they rush toward the DeLorean, they hear a man behind them cry:
"The TORA secret headquarters is unprotected! Destroy it now!"
Then another voice: "He's got a bomb! Stop him!"
"Look out!"
BOOM! Suddenly the interior of the secret headquarters explodes
from within just as Marty and Doc reach the DeLorean and get to work. The men
are blown away from the wall. Those who were far enough away to avoid the blast
continue to struggle with one another.
Another voice: "Damn! The headquarters from this point on will
now cease to exist! DAMN IT!"
Marty puts the car into gear, Doc hooks up the flux capacitor and
they accelerate forward, away from the melee.
6:20 - 7:10 AM
Marty & Doc speed off away from the explosion, deciding to go
to the Del Gato Mine. Marty drives forward, keeping his speed low enough so
that he doesn't shred the blown-out tire. It takes a bit of time, but they
finally arrive at the mine. They pull past the adjacent Boot Hill Cemetery and
stop the car before the mine shaft. The sun rises above their heads giving an
odd sense of peace despite the hectic circumstances.
Marty and Doc get out of the DeLorean, Marty kicking the flat tire. Doc's upset that the destruction of TORO will alter history again (reminding Marty about the Lone Pine Mall). Doc wants to return to 2015 to try to play the CD he downloaded. He searches the car for a spare tire but finds none.
After debating how best to solve the tire problem, Marty and Doc
decide that Marty should run into town and pick up a tire. After a quick
embrace, Marty takes off, charging like the wind and in (oh, let's say) 20
minutes he reaches the Texaco. Out of breath and panting hard, Marty asks the
man for a tire and a canister of gas.
"Sure thing," says the gas attendant. He returns with a tire and a cannister of gas. "That'll be $80 total."
Marty pays the man and takes off again, dragging (and sometimes rolling) the items along, and in 30 minutes he is able to reach Doc. It's been nearly and hour since Marty left, but he's returned in one piece.
Doc and Marty quickly change the tire, using a jack they found in the trunk of the DeLorean, and Doc fills it with gas and Marty refuels it with plutonium. Doc puts the destination time as October 22nd, 2015, 6:00 A.M. and they get in and drive forward to 88 mph and arrive at said date at the older and now caved-in Del Gato mine.
á
6:00 - 6:10
AM
Marty and Doc appear in
the Twin Pines Ranch on the morning of November 5, 1955, 6:00 AM (you guys didn't
specify a time, so I used 6:00 - if you'd prefer a different one just let me
know and I'll change it).
They
barrel through the Peabody Farm, hitting a scarecrow and sending it through the
air, before crashing through the big wooden doors of Peabody's barn.
Marty is too shocked to move (there's
been a lot of that lately), and so Doc takes the wheel of the DeLorean and
peels out of the Twin Pines Ranch. In his rush he flattens one of two pine
trees, but thinks little of it.
He parks
at the Lyon Estates Construction Site and sees a huge billboard with a picture
of a typical Lyon Estates house on it. Across from that are the two stone lions
that act as the entrance and a vast empty span of land. The road he has parked
on is empty.
Marty
& Doc get out of the DeLorean and consider their next move. To the River
Road Tunnel? To the school to confront Lee? Get something to eat (it's lunch
time, for cripes sake! Or is it breakfast? )?
The sound of a roaring engine awakens
Lorraine and George from their sleep a little after 6:00 that morning. A car
veers to a stop just before the Lyon Estates billboard. A DeLorean. A funky
looking DeLorean. Two men get out and begin to discussing where they should
head to, throwing out options like the River Road Tunnel, the high school, and
to Lou's Cafe to eat.
It's Doc Brown and their son, Marty McFly!
Lorraine and George see Marty and Doc
and George steps out to confront them. They are soon sharing all they know of
what has happened (thought Marty and Doc's past selves likely know less than
George and Lorraine at this point). After this, they George and Lorraine decide
it's probably best to leave Marty and Doc to their own devices (probably best
for the sanity of everyone playing along as well!) and walk off while Marty and
Doc hide the DeLorean and set off to downtown Hill Valley.
6:10 - 9:00 AM
Lorraine would like to see her old house and so she and
George head down that way. After reminiscing and kissing for what seems like hours,
they hear someone walking towards them. When Lorraine looks up she is shocked
to find George's younger self, 17 years old coming toward the bushes they are
hiding in!
As young George shimmies up the tree,
George comes clean about his peeping tomeries. Lorraine, however, has known all
along about it, and assures him that it just makes her love him more (she's a
freak, what can I say?).
Then they hear the sound of George falling out of the tree
and being hit by her father's car. Lorraine cringes. It isn't right that
they're to witness this and she wants to time travel somewhere else.
George and Lorraine decide they would
like to go to the New Year's party in 1999 to celebrate it while they're still
young enough to not break a hip! They insert the appropriate date and hit the
activate button.
BOOM! They stand on Lorraine old block, 44 years in the
future. December 31, 1999 ... some time during this day.
Doc
thinks they should head to Lou's cafe (he should come in handy as a 1955 tour
guide for Marty!), but suggests Marty take off his devo suit first.
Marty takes off the devo suit and throws
it in the car (new rule - 1 very large item equals 2 medium items or 4 small
items - the devo suit is small and the plutonium is medium, so both will fit,
w/ room for 1 more small item)
6:10 -
7:00 AM
Doc &
Marty then begin their trek to Hill Valley (hmm, they don't seem too concerned
about hiding the time machine ...).
They
begin walking toward the town square, discussing what they should do. Maybe
search for Luke, who Doc doesn't completely trust yet?
Marty wonders if he the pager he was
given would work in '55. Too bad he ditched it for the step van key (hey, don't
shoot the messenger!!!).
I think Marty & Doc are starting to loose
it. Last I checked that DeLorean was standing on the street in broad daylight.
And yeah, Marty put the step van key in
his pocket and also grabbed the wallet, so the pager had to go. Sorry!
Marty and Doc arrive at Lou's Diner.
Inside it is a regular diner, well a regular diner 30 years ago. There are some
customers on stools before a count, as well as some in booths by the windows, a
man sweeping, a woman by the front door (really what does that lady do?) and
Lou is behind his counter, watching the odd duo enter. A jukebox is in the back
and there is a room w/ a telephone in the back as well.
Doc wants to grab some coffee and a turkey club. He's in
luck! Lou's Diner serves the World's Best Coffee!!!
Marty wants to order a
burger and fries and a Pepsi (not a big fan of sugar, that Marty McFly).
Doc gently reminds Marty that Pepsi Free
is not available in 1955.
Doc suggests Marty get
a milkshake instead.
Marty's thoughts turn to time travel,
and he becomes a bit nervous at the thought of running into Doc's other self.
But he'll go with burgers, fries and a
chocolate shake.
Doc assures Marty that they don't have
to worry about his other self this day, b/c he was spending all day knocked out
on the floor of his bathroom!
They order their food. Lou looks puzzled
that they're ordering lunch, but Doc makes up an excuse, introducing Marty as
his nephew, Martin Newton.
The total comes to 3
bucks and Doc pays Lou.
Marty and Doc find a nice cozy booth to
sit in and begin eating.
Marty wonders why any of this nuts who
want to stop Doc from time traveling don't just prevent him from coming up with
the idea in the first place, since they're time travelers as well.
Doc isn't so sure that is their
intention. He mentions that they should pick up some 50's clothes asap and then
maybe check at his mansion to make sure things take their natural course.
Marty agrees with this plan, and is also
shocked to learn that Doc has a mansion in '55!
Well, I don't recall either of you
actually saying you did it! Ah, but it's just a game, so I'll let it slide!
Don't want to be a tight-arse or anything!
Yes, yes, the DeLorean is safe and
hidden behind the billboard.
Marty & Doc just must have used the
telepathic powers to do it, that's all!
7:00 - 7:50 AM
george_mcfly_au is now in the game as 1955 George McFly!
'55 George is in his room in the McFly
home (this of course being different from the McFly home in '85). Here is the 1955 Map to consult. He holds a Science Fiction
Magazine and wears a grey windbreaker. No money, to transportation, nothing in
his pockets.
Go for it '55 George!
Doc remembers a clothes store in
exterior Hill Valley and he and Marty decide to hike to it. Doc carries Marty's
jean jacket, even if it is a wee bit nippy on this Saturday morning. They
arrive at the clothes store. There are all sorts of 50's clothes available for
sell that I won't even begin to list. You guys can pick out the attire
yourselves.
A man at the register
eyeballs them curiously.
George looks around his room. He sits in bed, a night table to one
side, a bunch of science fiction posters on the wall. On the table is a lamp
and clock and some more sci-fi magazines. A dresser in the corner and a door to
a closet, as well as a bookshelf. He can see his bookbag on the floor. This is
all he can see with his cursory glance.
He puts down the sci-fi mag and goes to his closet. He finds a
bunch of clothes, but his briefcase is not there. He seems to remember leaving
it in the room somewhere, though ...
As Marty browses for clothes, Doc tries to explain to the counter
man about Marty's odd clothes, then picks out a costume of tan pants, blue
& yellow checked shirt and some plain shoes.
Not under the desk, but he's getting warmer ...
Marty picks out some Converse sneekers, a blue shirt, a bone
colored jacket and a tweed hat. He looks sort of like a certain detective with
it on ...
"Unckie Doc, will you buy this for me?
Doc pays for the clothes. The total is $25. They look for a
changing room.
(Yes, the clothes will fit in the DeLorean, I'm sure - wrapped
together they can act as one small item!)
George slides open the desk drawer. He finds his wallet, his
binoculars and a book "How to Be A Peeping Tom." But his briefcase
isn't in there!
He could've sworn that's where he put it. Where else could it be?
7:50 - 8:30 AM
Doc & Marty change clothes and head back to the street outside
the Lyon Estates construction. They dump off their clothes in the time machine.
55 George checks his wallet and finds $10! It doesn't seem like
much, but that's not too shabby for 1955! He puts the wallet in his pocket and
the binoculars around his neck.
George looks under his bed. Eureka! His briefcase!
He opens it up to make sure his sci-fi stories are still inside.
Yes, with a pencil and small notebook and other larger notebooks as well.
The briefcase can hold up to 5 small items.
Doc and Marty take a rest (can the narrarator join you? ).
Marty thinks maybe they should check out the RR Tunnel and the High
School sometime. Doc wants to check his mansion.
Doc thinks it's around 8:00 (Ah, you guys are gonna make me update
that chronolgy again, aren't you! Okay, hold on. For the record, I'm really
only going every 15 paragraphs or so 10 minutes pass (just counting my
paragraphs, actually) so if you guys want to count 'em up, be my guest! Until then,
sit tight while I update it!).
George jumps on his bike and hits the road to Lou's Cafe. He
arrives, chats with a grumpy Lou, and orders some Rice Krispies. He pulls out
his sci-fi story and starts reading over it. He thinks it's pretty good so far,
but doubts anyone else will like it. His father always said that he was wasting
his time writing about such crazy fantasies. Maybe he's right ...
Lou hands over the bowl of Rice Krispies and pays 5 cents for it.
As he he is eating from his bowl someone comes up behind me.
"Hey, McFly! I thought I told you never to come in here!"
(Since we have no 55 Biff yet, I'll play his role until someone
assumes it.)
George freezes in fear...part of him wants to run, but he knows
there's no way to escape.
"Hey Biff..."
Match, 3-D and Skinhead are just behind him.
"Hey, McFly, you irish bug, you have my homework
finished?" Biff asks, approaching George and standing over him.
George hasn't...since he has enough of his own homework to do!
"Uh...well, I figured since it wasn't due 'til Monday..."
Suddenly Biff grabs him around the shoulders and starts knocking
him on the head.
"Hello?! Hello?! Anyone home?! Think, McFly! Think!" Biff
snaps at him and then goes off on a rant George doesn't listen to. At least not
until Biff grabs his shoulder hard.
"No, no Biff, I wouldn't want that happen." George says
automatically.
Meanwhile Biff's friends have been looking at George's briefcase.
3D picks it up. "Hey what's this?"
George is horrified and almost tears the briefcase out of 3D's
hands but he's too afraid.
"Got anything special in there, McFly?" Biff asks.
"N-n-no," George stutters. "Just...um....stuff for
my dad."
Any hopes that that will make 3D give the briefcase back is dashed,
instead he passes it to Biff.
"Is that so, well, McFly, I don't think you should be doin'
stuff for your dad while my homeworks waitin'. So I'm just gonna take this.
You'll get it back when I get my homework."
With that he pushes George back upsetting the bowl of Rice Krispies
sending milk everywhere.
By the time George regains his balance, Biff and his boys have
gone! With his stories!
George is so horrified by the loss of his briefcase he almost runs
after Biff (even though Biff is in his car), but Lou puts a stop to all that.
8:30 - 9:00 AM
"What's all this! You damn kids! This ain't your house you
can't just go messing up the place!"
George can't speak, however
Goldie Wilson the busboy responds.
"Hey, Lou calm down! It's just some spilt milk," he
grins.
"Don't sass me, Goldie, get cleanin'! And you help
him," Lou orders.
"B-but," George finally gets something out.
"Get to it!"
"Hey don't worry 'bout, Lou," Goldie says as he and
George get to work on the milk and Rice Krispie bits. "He's just a
hardass."
George gives Goldie a weak smile, but his thoughts are on his
briefcase. He's got to get it back! Of course, he supposes he could just rush home
do Biff's homework and bring it to him, but for once in his life George is
willing to take the easy route. Besides, what if Biff opens the briefcase and
reads what's inside?!
"I've got to get it back," George mutters to himself.
"What?" Goldie asks.
"Nothing," George mumbles.
"Hey, I saw those guys pushin' you around, you shouldn't
let 'em do that, you gotta stand up for yourself, boy!"
George looks at Goldie, he knows he's right...maybe it's time he
took that advice.
"Hey, what are you two doin' down there? Painting a
masterpiece?" Lou's voice interrupts them. "Hurry up!"
George grabs some napkins are starts mopping up the milk, the
sooner he finishes the sooner he can go after Biff!
George and Goldie finally clean up everything to Lou's
satisifaction and George wastes no time getting out of the cafe and onto his
bike.
He wonders where Biff and his friends could have gone...to one
of their homes he suspects...
Luckily Biff's car is pretty noticible and he'd probably leave
the briefcase in it, so all George has to do is find Biff's car!
He hopes.
George decides he'll check out the houses of Biff's friends
first, since Biff has probably just come from his house and won't be in a hurry
to get back to it (everyone at Hill Valley High has heard about his grandma!).
Of course, George isn't actually sure where Biff's friends live,
but he does know their real names, so all he needs to do is check out a phone
book. There's one at Lou's, but George is in no hurry to go back there! He
decides he might as well go home and use the phonebook there.
It takes about ten minutes for George to get back home and even
though he tried to creep inside quietly his father hears him.
"There you are son," his father says as he comes down
the stairs. "I figured you wouldn't have run off for the day. Grandpa and
Grandma are coming over remember."
George didn't remember actually, and doesn't know what to do, he
can't stay at home while Biff has his briefcase! But he can't tell his father
that.
What a mess!
"Sure...I remember, Dad," George answers after a
moment. "How long will they be staying?"
"They haven't even arrived yet and you all ready want them
to leave?" His father looked pretty surprised.
"Umm...well, I just...I have to do something..."
"Well, you can do it some other time," his father
replies with unusual sterness. "You should go change, you've spilt
something all over yourself."
George wanted to look up the phonebook, but before he can, his
father tells him he better hurry.
George goes back up to his room and wonders what to do now.
Upstairs in his room, George changes his clothes and hears the
sound of a car pulling into driveway. He goes to the window and looks out to
see his grandparents car.
"I have to get out of here," George mutters to
himself, time is ticking.
He hears his grandparents and his father's voices downstairs, so
it's obvious he won't be able to get out of the house the normal way. So, he
goes out onto the balcony, one of his cousins used to sneak out of the house
this way...But George has never tried it in life!
It wouldn't be the first time that George has climbed something,
though! So, he sets his jaw and very carefully climbs over his balcony onto the
wooden beams of the trellis.
He prays that his father and grandparents don't come upstairs to
see where he is and also that he doesn't fall and break his neck! Carefully he
makes his way over to the drainpipe. Fortunately he's grandparents have parked
right next to it so he doesn't have to climb down to the ground.
George winces a bit as he lands on the car a bit heavily, but
fortunately it isn't dented.
Breathing a sigh of relief that he's got out unscathed George
climbs onto his bike and heads off towards the townsquare, he has to find a
phonebook and get Biff's friends addresses quickly!
Feeling like he should get a dexterity point for having climbed
down the trellis unscathed George pulls into the Texaco and goes inside to ask
for a phonebook.
"What do you think we are son? The Information Booth? Go to
Lou's if you want a phonebook," the man behind the counter says gruffily.
George can't help wondering if there's any good-tempered shop
owners in Hill Valley as he returns to Lou's.
"What are you doing back here?" Lou demands as George
comes in.
"I...just need to use the phone," George mumbles back.
Lou stares at him. "Well...all right then...try not to
spill anything." As if to emphasise the point he takes the sugar and
ketchup bottles off the counter.
George goes to the phone in back and hunts for Biff's friends
last names, grateful that he's heard their actual names enough at school where
they're constantly getting in trouble.
But who's house to go to first?
+1 Dexterity for George! and +1 Intrepidness for having the guts
to defy his dad, too!
George decides to go to 3D's house first since it's the closest,
after memorising (he hopes) the other two addresses (he hadn't thought to bring
a notepad and pencil with him) and thanking Lou he rushes out of the cafe and
starts riding. On the way he keeps an eye out for Biff's car, just in case he
decided to stop somewhere else.
3D's house is in one of the poorer parts of town, not far from
Biff's house actually, where the lawns have dead grass or none at all.
George is disappointed to discover that Biff's car is not out
the front of 3D's house, he supposes it's not surprising that getting back his
stories aren't that easy.
There's no point sulking over it, though, and George sets off
for Match's house...
55 George arrives at Match's address and looks in the driveway
for Biff's car. No car, though.
To the next location?
George is getting annoyed at not being able to track down Biff.
But he hurries off to Skinhead's house and as he arrives just outside the driveway
he does indeed find Biff's black car! He hears Biff and his buddies getting
rowdy in the yard behind the house, as well, but he cannot see his briefcase in
Biff's car upon first view.
A bit worried, but desparate to get his briefcase back, George puts
his bike against a tree and examines Biff's convertible. He checks the glove
box, finding some user manuals and an "Oh La La Magazine," and
carefully explores under the seats and the rest of the car.
He comes up with a piece of paper. One of the pages to his
stories!
But the briefcase isn't in there!
George is very worried that Biff might be destroying or maybe
even reading his stories. Getting up the courage he gets out of Biff's car and
peeks through the slats of the fence to the backyard.
He sees the four hooligans, a fire in the center of them. Biff
holds a bunch of pages in his hands, George's briefcase on the ground by his
side.
"Now get this!" cries Biff. "A subatomic humanoid
who falls in love with a human girl!"
"What a joke!" cries Match. "Toss it in, toss it
in!"
Biff flicks the paper into the fire! "Wanna hear
more?"
George releases a great scream, drawing the attention of Biff
& co.
Looking through the gate at George, Biff cries: "Hey, what are
you doing here, McFly? Want your briefcase back, and these stupid
stories?"
George, outraged by Biff's actions, rushes to Biff's car and
pulls the parking brake, sending Biff's car crashing rolling back and crashing
into a tree!
Biff is aghast. "Oh, you're gonna pay for that, McFly! Get
'im!"
And Biff and his men charge after George!
George grabs his bike and starts pedalling like no tomorrow. He
zooms down the streets, Biff and his boys giving chase. He remembers a tree he
usually climbs to peep on Lorraine Baines in the house across from the tree.
Maybe he could loose them by climbing up it and hiding? (Feel free to not do
this, gma, I just thought it would be a way to link everything together).
Practically leaping off his bike and climbing faster than he
ever has before George makes his way up his favourite tree. This time though
he's not up there for usual purposes.
High above the street, George tries to make himself look as
inconspicious as possible as Biff's car, tires squealing swerves into view.
George prays to God they won't notice him....something has to go his way
today!
55 George leaps off his bike and races for his favorite tree and
scrambles up it, hoping to hide himself from Biff and his gang in the branches.
Biff's car swerves into view, and keeps going forward, past the
tree, and accelerates out of sight. Finally, George can relax ... until he
loses his grip on the branch and falls into the street.
Just in time to be struck by a braking car and knocked out cold!
...
8:30 - 8:40 AM
Marty and Doc, now having made sure that Doc has hit his head and
will get the idea for the time machine, head toward HIll Valley High School.
They arive before 8:30 in the parking lot. It is Saturday, so the
place looks pretty empty. Only a couple of scattered 50's cars in the parking
lot. The school's walls are no longer covered in graffiti.
Doc
flips out over this slight change to history, but Marty is able to calm him
down and they head to the school.
As they
arrive at the school, Doc suggest to Marty that they try the science room to
see if they can find HoggLee's past self. They stroll casually through the
school halls, past the reception desk. It's pretty empty. As they turn the
corner to head to the science room a hand reaches out and grabs Doc on the
shoulder.
"Just
where do you think you're going?" The voice sounds familiar. Marty knows
it instantly: Mr. Strickland!
Yes,
still bald, looking like he hasn't aged at all, it's the school's ornery
principal/disciplinarian.
Doc,
putting on a fake smile, explains that Marty is his nephew from the East Coast
and he wanted to give him a tour of the school.
"Martin
Newton?" Srickland raises an eyebrow quizzically. "Actually, I've
been expecting you for some time, Mr. Brown. Mr. Lee would like to see you.
Come this way."
Strickland
begins leading them down the school halls.
Doc
decides to follow Strickland, and he and Marty exchange unsettled glances. They
know how Lee's other self tried to kill them in the future, and Doc makes
certain Lee's gun is still in his pocket. Yep.
Strickland
opens the science room door and ushers them in. He nods once to Lee, who stands
before his desk, and Lee nods once back, then Strickland leaves and closes the
door behind him.
"Sit
down," says Lee, motioning to the students' empty desks before them.
"I've been wondering when I'd see you, Doctor Brown. You brought a friend,
too, I see. Well, let's get on with it. Let's talk paradoxes, Doctor!"
Doc's feeling apprehensive, but he hides it well. Marty keeps quiet.
Doc would rather stand, and he asks the man why he wants to talk about
paradoxes.
"That's what this is all about, isn't it?" asks Lee. "Or haven't you figured that out yet? No, I guess you aren't experienced enough in the ways of time travel. Not yet anyway.
"I don't guess you know, then, what NIFADOT really is? Well, I
won't spoil the surprise. But you see, your safety is very important to us. We
refuse to allow WADOTAT destroy you! You must understand, you are not safe no
matter where you go, no matter WHEN you go!"
Doc is rather upset to learn that Lee works for NIFADOT. Now he
doesn't know who to trust.
8:40 - 8:50 AM
He asks Lee how long this has been going on, trying to keep his
cards close to his chest.
"What's time when you have a time machine?" asks Lee.
"You, Doctor Brown, are the first link. The inventor and creator of the
world's first time machine! You may be very surprised to discover what you
invention has wielded in the future. But I cannot release that information. The
more you know, the better chance it has of affecting future history. That's the
last thing we want!"
Doc thinks they need to get to the future to figure this mess out.
He asks Lee why he invited him here and why he's even telling him
about the danger of WADOTAT if he's so concerned about changing the future.
"WADOTAT, Doctor Brown, intends to alter history by
exterminating you," explains Lee. "We at NIFADOT are determined to
make sure this does not occur. What you do in the future is very important to
us. Without you, our entire organization can't exist!
"That is why you must stay here until WADOTAT is disposed of
fully. It is the only way you will be safe from them."
Doc isn't so sure he's safe with NIFADOT. He thinks that he may
have somehow worked with NIFADOT, perhaps against his will, but he doesn't
know. He can't trust anyone!
Doc wonders what Marty's thinking (probably reviewing all that's
just happened in his mind, as if only hearing it for the first time).
Marty doesn't trust Lee at all and decides to ask how he knows
Reiley Strickland.
"I know him in many ways," says Lee. "In more ways
than you can imagine. The question is, which Reiley Strickland are you talking
about?"
Marty says the one that told him to stay in 1955.
"I was never told by anyone but our organization's leader to
stay in 1955," replies Lee.
Doc remeinds Marty that Luke told Lee to stay in 55 and Marty asks
how he knows John Luke.
"John Luke," replied the man, holding his anger.
"That man has nothing to do with us! He works with the government in the
future. When did you see him? When you were in '85?"
Marty is tired of answering questions and he and Doc get up to
leave.
8:50 - 9:00 AM
Lee darts in front of the door to bar their exit.
"I can't let you go," he says. "The future depends
on you and Doctor Brown's safety. I can't tell you much, understand. If you
know too much, than the future will not develop in the way that we need it to.
You needn't worry about any of your counterparts. NIFADOT agents are posted
throughout the various decades in order to make certain that WADOTAT does not
harm them.
"What I can explain is Luke. He is an officer from the future,
as I said. In the future, time travel is available to the government, and
certain underground organizations such as our own and WADOTAT. The government
has issued that all time travel be banned, except for the purpose of repairing
the timeline so it resembles what is known as 'Timeline Omega.'
"While this does not pose a direct threat to our organization,
you can understand our reluctance for the 'time cops' as they are known, to
discover us, since we are working with time transporters and these are banned
by future law."
Doc & Marty, happy to get more information, sit down. Doc asks
what they will do to keep them safe, to test the water and see where Lee is
going with this.
"There is an underground bunker that we placed under the high
school in the past. Only myself and our leader has the access key. We will keep
you there. No one will be able to get to you. You will have plenty of food and
water. If something should happen, we will supply you with time transporters to
send yourselves to a safer time, but not until something goes wrong, so that we
know you are safe.
"Once WADOTAT is disposed of, you will be returned to 1985 and
you will continue as you were before either organizations or the time cops
became involved, so that timeline Omega will remain intact."
Doc says that he finds the plan interesting, but gives Marty an
obvious look.
Doc asks who their leader is, if they know where WADOTAT is located
and how they would even know that Marty & he arrived in '55.
"They don't know," replies Lee. "We were lucky that you
came to us, or we wouldn't know either. But that won't stop them from hunting
out each time period until they discover your whereabouts and kill you.
WADOTAT's primary location is not known to us, and it would not be wise in any
event to invade thir headquarters directly. WADOTAT must be taken out more
discretely. We do not want a war between our organizations.
"As for our leader, his identity must remain a secret. I
cannot say why, but it is of grave importance."
Marty asks how they plan to destroy WADOTAT, starting to feel
better about this version of Lee.
"It is difficult, you understand, to locate the various
members of the organization, as they are stationed throughout time,"
replies Lee. "Our main goal is to dispatch of their leader. The time cops
can deal with the others. Cut off the head and the body dies. So far, however,
it has been difficult to locate their leader."
Doc announces that they can help and Marty agrees. He says that
they could be decoys to help get WADOTAT out of hiding and asks if they can be
including in NIFADOT's plans.
9:00 - 9:30 AM
"Out of the question!" cries Lee. "In fact, you must
be as detached from this whole mess as possible. You must be concealed in the
bunker below the High School. There is no other way. Now please follow me. The
door to the bunker is located in the gymnasium, hidden under the floor."
Lee approaches Marty and Doc expecting them to stand and follow
him.
Doc and Marty stand, thanking Lee for telling them what he could,
and then confirms that the bunker is under the gym. He then smashes Lee over
the head with the butt of his gun.
Lee falls to the ground, dazed but not totally knocked out. He
tries to stand, but fails, and then cries: "Strickland! Hurry! Move!
They're getting away!"
Doc quickly scans the room. Yes, they are on the first floor. He
wraps Marty's jacket around his fist and smashes the glass of the nearest
window and both he and Marty leap through (+1 Dexterity for each) and into the
Parking Lot.
Doc & Marty hurry to the closest car. Doc tries to open it, but
it's locked. He tries to get it open with his screwdriver. Grrrr! It won't
work! So he smashes the glass (hope you don't mind if I ad-lib this - I figure
Doc's on a glash-smashing role), pops the lock inside, gets in and works to hotwire
the car.
Marty gets in the passenger's seat and the car roars to life just
as Strickland lurches after them. Doc accelerates and speeds out of the parking
lot and hits the road, away from the high school.
Marty & Doc speed down the road. Their thoughts turn to all the
new info they have gathered: secret time traveling organizations, time cops,
Timeline Omega ... They have to solve this mystery!
It seems like nearly everybody in Hill Valley is in on this, with
Strickland joining the fray (hope no one wants to be him in the future!).
Doc thinks that they should head to the future exactly 30 years
(minus 4 days, but who's counting?) from their present time in 1985 to see if
they can get a better read on what exactly happened to create this mess and how
he will be involved with it.
But first they drive to Doc's mansion, to make sure his younger
self is still alive and kicking.
They arrive in the driveway, Doc's '55 Packard visible. They sneak
around to the bathroom window and see Doc's younger self, knocked out on the
bathroom floor still.
Seeing that Doc's younger self is okay, Doc and Marty hurry off to
the DeLorean before any organization members spot them.
9:30 - 9:50 AM
As they drive, Doc reminds Marty that he'll have to refuel, since
he left his radiation suit in the future. Marty likely doesn't mind. He likes
playing with plutonium!
They arrive at the Lyon Construction site and find the time machine
(thankfully) undisturbed. Good thing they hid it (or did they? ). Well, it's hidden and that's all
that matters! Doc removes the brush, Marty climbs back into the devo suit while
Doc gets a good distance away, and Marty loads another pellet. With that done,
Doc joins Marty at the time machine again.
"Hold it!" a voice cries.
As Doc turns to look, he sees John Luke! He has a gun drawn on Doc.
"I'm sorry, but I can't let you go to the future. Not
yet."
Doc, getting exceedingly frustrated, demands to know what Luke
means.
"The less you're involved with this the better," says
Luke. "When I arrived at the mall and saw you and the DeLorean were gone -
and subsequently noticed the deviation to the timeline you created - I knew
that you went to the past. Lucky one of my agents stationed here spotted you
and Mr. McFly and sent the message to me shortly after I apprehended Hoggle.
"You need to return to 1985. I and my agents will take care of
NIFADOT and WADOTAT. We have already cordoned the high school in '85. We
discovered Hoggle's future self's body. Likely murdered by the WADOTAT agent
posing as Reiley Strickland. We'll take care of his past self and prevent his
ever coming to 1985.
"Now you both will get in the DeLorean. I will get in the
driver's seat and we will drive back to 1985. If either organization should
approach you there, you can page me and I will make sure they do you no harm.
Understand?"
9:50 - 10:15 AM
Wow! Doc really wants to go to the future!
Doc rants on like a rabid dog, holding Luke's collar.
"Mr. Brown, I know everything about you," says Luke,
rather surprised by this outburst. "I know your history front and back,
when you were born, when you will die. Everything. This is not in your best
interest. It is in everyone's best interest to return everything to the Omega
timeline and remove all extracurricular time traveling organizations from the
world. You are making a grave mistake."
Luke looks desperate. He's at Doc's mercy and has no way to stop
him. Clearly he didn't want to kill Doc, or he would have shot him when he
advanced.
Doc calms himself down, telling Luke that he agrees about restoring
the omega timeline, but that he does not want to be treated like a prop in play
anymore. He'll do what he wants and no one will stop him from getting to the
bottom of the mystery.
Marty & Doc hurry into the DeLorean. They want to get out of
'55 before anyone else shows up to stop them.
Doc hits the gas, accelerating up to 88 mph! The DeLorean disapears
with a flash of light, twin fire trails being left behind. Goodbye to 1955 and
good riddance!
6:00 - 6:10 PM
George wakes up in a bed that doesn't belong to him, later that night. A silhouetted figure sits in a chair, hovering over him ...
+1 Missions Accomplished to George for achieving his density!
George moans...his head is aching...what's happened.
"Dad? Dad are you there?" He mumbles.
"There there," a voice answers, a female voice.
"Just relax...you've been asleep for almost nine hours now."
Huh? Asleep? Was it all a dream? George has trouble remembering
what exaclty happened...something about Lou's Cafe...and his stories. And who
was speaking to him?
"Grandma?"
The person giggles. "No, I'm not your grandmother! But don't
worry your safe and sound now."
Behind his closed eyelids George registers a light been switched on
and slowly opens his eyes.
He can't believe it! If his head didn't ache so much he would be
running.
For who should be standing over him...but the loveliest girl at
school...the girl he peeps on!
Lorraine Baines!
55 George awakens groggily. The room is dark until a light is
turned on and when George turns over in bed and looks over, he discovers it's
Lorraine Baines, the object of his peeping desires!
"Hello," says Lorraine. "You poor thing, are you
okay?"
George is totally tongue tied! Never in his wildest dreams did he
imagine that Lorraine Baines would actually talk to him! And that he would be
in her room!
Lorraine looks concerned when he doesn't answer. "You're head
doesn't hurt too much does it?" She asks and puts the cold compress on his
head again.
"Uh.."George finally manages to get out.
"Ummm...What...why..."
"My father hit you with his car," Lorraine answers,
giggling a bit. "I'm so sorry!" Then she looks serious.
"You're not really hurt are you? Should I call a doctor?"
George doesn't think so, but he's still very confused. Hit by a
car?
"My head hurts," is all he can say rather obviously.
"Well, it would," Lorraine holds out a glass of water and
some asprin. "Here take these, you should be OK."
George takes the asprin and lies back down, more memories of how he
ended up in the Baines house coming to him.
"My briefcase!" He gasps
"You're ... uhm ... briefcase?" Lorraine's schoolgirl act
usually makes boys putty in her hands, but George seems distracted and aloof.
"Why don't you calm down, Georgie. Can I call you Georgie?"
George doesn't really notice Lorraine's question but nods anyway.
"Biff...he took my briefcase," George remembers more.
"Biff?" Lorraine gets a sour look on her pretty face.
"What were doing hanging around him?"
"I wasn't, he came and stole my briefcase," George has a
bad feeling he's going to remember something even worse about all that.
"He stole it?" Lorraine looks aghast. "Oh, poor Georgie! That
Biff's a total creep!"
George would probably go further than that in describing Biff.
"I have to get my briefcase back it's got..." he looks up at Lorraine
who's gazing at him. "Um...something important in it..."
"You should have told him to get his meathooks off it!"
exclaims Lorraine. "I hope you do find your briefcase, Georgie! By the
way, are you hungry? Dinner will be ready soon and I was wondering if you ...
wanted to stay and eat with me and my family?" She bats her eyes at
George. She doesn't really like him ... yet ... but she's a flirt by design!
George mulls over Lorraine's words...she's right he should have
stood up to Biff. Although, if the whole car incident is anything to go by, it
might not be that easy.
He's a little non-plussed at her changing subject so quickly, but
then he feels his stomach rumbling...and Lorraine is so pretty...
"Sure, that'd be nice," he says.
How can George resist Lorraine's advances? This is the woman he's
been secretly spying on and has become a bit of obsession to him. How can he
say no given this opportunity? He accepts.
Lorraine goes to her hope chest and grabs a pair of pants and hands
them to him. "Put your pants back on and meet me downstairs," she
giggles, and then pausing at the door to give him an enchanting look, she
exits.
George is pretty embarrassed that he's been pantless all this time!
But at least he didn't try to get out of bed while Lorraine was still in the
room!
He pulls them on just in time because Lorraine's mother arrives.
"Ah, Lorraine said you were up and so you are! You're staying
for dinner then?"
"Er..yes," George is even more embarrassed after all this
is the mother of the girl he's been spying on! He's worried that somehow she
must know. But Lorraine's mother is perfectly hospitable.
"Well, we're glad you're allright," Mrs. Baines says as
they head for the stairs. "When Sam called me out of the house I thought
for sure we'd need an ambulance."
6:10 - 6:20 PM
Lorraine meets them there, she gives George a sweet smile and
George tries not to blush as they go down the stairs.
"Sam," Mrs. Baines says as the reach the botttom of the
stairs, a man's head pops up from behind a TV set up nearby. "Sam, here's
that young man you hit with your car out there. He's all right, thank
God."
Mr. Baines has a screwdriver in his mouth which he takes out and
waves in George's general direction.. "What were you doing in the middle
of the street, a kid your age?"
Mrs. Baines shakes her head and tells George to ignore Mr. Baines
and tells Mr. Baines that dinner's ready. She then introduces George to the
Baines family, even little Joey!
George isn't really comfortable around people he doesn't know, so
he just gives them all a little wave.
George waves at the Baines family as he is introduced to them and
Lorraine invites George to sit down next to her.
Mr. Baines rolls a TV into the kitchen, happy to be able to watch
the Honeymooners while they eat. George doesn't mind this. His dad would never
let him watch TV while eating!
"So, George, Lorraine tells us you go to school with
her," says Lorraine's mother, Stella. "Oh, should I call your mother
and tell her your eating dinner with us? I wouldn't want her to worry!"
George almost drops his fork...he's just realised that when going
after his briefcase he snuck out of the house...without telling anyone! His
father's going to be seriously mad...well as mad as his father can get...
But his father's probably also worried, so he says. "Uh,
yeah...they're probably worried," he gives Mrs. Baines the number and she
goes off to make the call.
It's rather unsettling sitting so close to Lorraine! She's almost
sitting on the same chair! So, he focuses on The Honeymooners, he's heard a lot
about the show, but has never seen it. It's pretty funny.
Lorraine's brother Milton though has been staring at George for
most of the meal, which is also awkward. He wonders if the kid knows
something...
Milton stares at George curiously. "Hey, aren't you that kid
that's always climbing up that tree outside our house?"
"I bet he's spying on us!" exlaims Toby.
"Don't be silly," says Stella, coming back from the phone
call. "None of your rooms even face that street! Only my and your father's
window faces that street!
"Oh, George, your father sounded pretty upset. He said you should
get home right away."
"Oh, you don't have to go yet, do you Georgie?" asks
Lorraine, squeezing George's thigh under the table.
George almost faints at Milton's question, but is relieved to be
let off the hook by Mrs. Baines's reply, although there's something rather...
Before he can finish that thought, Mrs. Baines is saying his father
wants him home and Lorraine is squeezing his leg!
He almost leaps to his feet and turns to stare at her.
"Well, kid?" Mr. Baines says gruffily.
"Uh um...well, if my father says so...I better...uh go. But
thanks...um...for looking after me." He stands up and says very quickly.
"See you at school Lorraine!"
It's more than he ever thought he'd say to her, and his heart is
pounding as he hurries out of the Baines house.
6:20 - 6:40 PM
George jumps out of his seat and hurries home as briefcase-less as
when his journey began!
He arrives home and his father approaches him as he enters.
6:40 PM - 7:00 AM
"Where were you all day?" his father demands. "Your
grandparents were looking forward to seeing you all day and come to find that
you took off without even saying hello! You'd better have a good excuse, young
man! Where were you all day?"
George is not sure what to say to his father...he considers the
truth, but his father doesn't take his stories seriously!
"I...uh...left my briefcase at Lou's," George began,
"it had my homework in it...I had to get it."
"Well, why didn't you say so?" His father didn't seem to
be buying it.
"Uh..." That was a good question. "I wasn't planning
to be gone so long," he said, quickly. "But...um...I got hit by Mr.
Baines's car. I just woke up an hour ago..." He hope his father would be
sympathetic...after all his head hard started throbbing again.
"Well, Mrs. Baines did mention that," grumbles George's father. "Just go upstairs and think about how you let your poor grandparents down! I hope the Baines fed you, 'cause you're not getting any supper from me!"
George only had about two bites of meatloaf at the Baines's but
he's not about to make things worse! So, without compliant he hurries upstairs
to his room, but he can't think about his grandparent's disappointment, he can
only think of his stories and briefcase!
It occurs to him that Biff has probably destroyed everything in
it...especially after what George did to his car! Still, if wasn't for his
aching head, George would almost be tempted to sneak out again to try and find
it!
George lies down on his bed, and thinks about tomorrow...and
decides he should continue his search tomorrow...Call him stupid but he wants
to know what happened to it...if there's any chance at all he can get it back.
George doesn't argue with his father and hurries back up to his
room. He thinks about his briefcase and hopes to get it back tomorrow, even if
his stories have been destroyed by now. His head aching, George lays down in
his bed and slowly falls to sleep, dreams of finding his briefcase and taking
it to next week's school dance dancing in his head ...
11/6/1955
7:00
- 7:10 AM
His alarm awakens him at 7:00 the next morning.
George feels quite a bit better when he wakes up the next morning
and he has a quick shower gets dressed (makes sure he has his wallet on him)
and goes down to have breakfast.
His father is all ready down there, which isn't surprising since
it's Sunday and he has to mow the lawn...at least George hopes his father will be
mowing it...not make him do it!
"'Morning, son," his father greets him, gruffily.
"'Morning, Dad," George replies and is then struck with a
great idea. "Hey, Dad, I was thinking about Grandma and Grandpa and you're
right I was really unfair to them yesterday...I'm thinking I should go over
their place and apologise."
Will his father agree to it? George crosses his fingers and hopes.
"I think your grandparents would appreciate that," says
his father. "In fact, I'm sure they'd like to spend the whole day with
you. You've got nothing better to do, right? I'll call them and tell them your
on the way."
George's father gets up to go to the phone.
George isn't actually planning to spend the whole day with his
grandparents (he's sure he'll be able to think of some reason for arriving
late, they'll let him off, being the good grandparents they are!) and he quickly
chows down his breakfast and says goodbye to his father.
However as he heads out into the backyard, he realises something,
his bike! He didn't even think
about it last night when he left Lorraine's, he just walked home! But he needs
it if he's going to get around today.
So, without thinking too hard about it, he makes his way to the
Baines house, hopefully they saw it...
7:10
- 7:30 AM
George, realizing he needs his bike and left it at his favorite
tree, hurries back to the Baines' home. It's not at the tree, but he does find
it sitting in the Baines' backyard, behind a locked gate ...
George decides that he's got into enough trouble without
trespassing on other people's property, so he goes up to the front door at
presses the doorbell.
7:30
- 7:40 AM
He checks his watch and realises it's a lot earlier than he
thought...he sure hopes he won't tick Mr. or Mrs. Baines off.
After a minute the door is answered.
"Georgie!"
George blushes, he can't believe it! Lorraine has answered the
door!
"Uh..." is all he can get out.
"I thought I wouldn't see you until Monday," Lorraine
says coyly, batting her eyelashes at him. "But I guess you couldn't stay
away."
"Umm...." George gulps...does she really like him? It
seems impossible...but true, for a minute he forgets all about his bike.
"I uh...just wanted to thank you again for helping me out
yesterday..."
"Oh, Georgie, that's no problem!" She takes hold of his
arm. "Come on in!"
George isn't sure if he should do that...but before he can answer,
Lorraine has all ready pulled him inside.
"Er...I'm...I'm..." George stutters, he isn't sure if
it's a good idea to be inside without having talked to Lorraine's parents.
"Hey, what are you doin' here?" Just then Milton Baines,
wearing the racoonskin cap runs into the room.
"Milton," Lorraine snaps, "don't be rude to our
guest!"
"Hey, he owes us...we coulda just left 'im in the
street." Milton sticks his tongue out at George, then runs off.
"Don't mind, Milton," Lorraine purrs, "he's just an
annoying little pest." She leads George to the couch and sits him down,
sitting next to him. "Now, you wanted to thank me?" Her face is very
close to his.
7:40
- 7:50 AM
"Uh...yeah...my bike!" He practically shouts as he
remembers what he was here for.
Lorraine leans back. "Sorry?"
"My bike, I left it here last night," George says in a
rush, "that's why I came so early...I kind of need it."
"Oh," Lorraine looks disappointed. "It's in the
backyard, Dad saw it lying in the grass after we brought you in,."
"Uh...yeah," George mumbled.
"So, where are you going, Georgie?" Lorraine asks, and
smiles at him. "Maybe I can come with you."
George is rather surprised she would ask. "Um...you probably
don't want to...it's my briefcase."
Lorraine looks a little annoyed. "Oh, the briefcase."
"It's very important," George says, "I...well..." he looks at Lorraine. "It's got...it's got my stories in it."
He can't believe he said that! He hasn't even told most of his
relatives he writes stories! Now he's just told someone he barely knows...! A
lovely someone, but still!
"Oh, you write stories?" asks Lorraine. "Do you
write romance stories? Those are my favorite! I have this whole collection of
romance comics! They're so dreamy!"
"Umm," George is surprised that Lorraine doesn't laugh at
him! "No...I write science fiction stories...about aliens coming to earth
from other planets."
He wonders what Lorraine will think of that...maybe he should
mention earth females always seem to fall in love with the aliens...?
"Oh, that's kind of interesting and all," says Lorraine
undecidedly. "Maybe I could read some of your stories when you find your
briefcase. Or maybe you could read them to me up in my room?"
George feels way out of depth here...
"Uh...sure..." he said. "But I can't get my
briefcase back without my bike...so uh...I should just go get it. Uh...do you
want to come with me." He blurted out, he had no idea why...
He supposed she wouldn't agree...what was he thinking?
7:50
- 8:00 AM
"Oh, are you going to Biff's to get it back?" she asks.
"I'd like to give that jerk a peace of mind!"
"Er, yeah, I am," George nodded, surprised at her
vehemence. It made him feel a bit more confident. "I'm sick of Biff
pushing me around."
"Oh, I know!" Lorraine wrinkled her nose. "I hate
him! Nobody wants to tell him off, though...you're the first!" She
fluttered her eyelashes at him. "I think that's wonderful, Georgie."
George blushes again, he hopes he can actually go through with
it...otherwise he's going to look like even more of a loser...
"Let me just get my coat, Georgie, and we can go!"
Lorraine says, leaping up to grab her coat. "I'm tired of that creep
always asking me out, myself! I think it's time to teach him a lesson!"
With that, they leave the house. Lorraine lets George into her yard
and he gets his bike.
"You can walk your bike, right, Georgie? Too bad you have that
basket! I'd like to ride on the handlebars!"
George is rather glad his bicycle does have the basket since he's
never ridden a bike with someone balancing on it.
"Biff left my briefcase at one of his friends' houses,"
he told her as they walked. "We should go there first."
Lorraine looks a little disappointed that they won't be confronting
Biff right away, but doesn't say anything.
George is relieved to see that there's no signs of activity at
Skinhead's place, maybe his briefcase will still be sitting in the backyard!
He leans up his bike against a nearby tree, and motioning at Lorraine
not to make a sound creeps over to look into the backyard of Skinhead's house.
George peers into Skinhead's backyard, searching for his briefcase.
But it's not there!
"Oh, good!" exclaims Lorraine. "Now we'll have to go
tell off Biff!"
George really isn't looking forward to that...but what choice does
he have. Besides it's probably for the best, if his briefcase had still been in
the backyard it would have been soaked through!
Lorraine, who seems to have no fear at all, practically drags him
by the hand back to his bike and they set off for Biff's house.
Lorraine practically drags George by the hand to Biff's house. They
enter the gate, ignoring the "Stay off the grass" signs, and Lorraine
pushes George to the front door.
"Well, go on, Georgie, knock!" she says.
George is tempted to dig his heels in, but in some ways saying no
to Lorraine is in some ways even scarier than Biff!
So swallowing hard George heads down the walk abd up onto the porch
to the door, which has a sign Knock at Your Own Risk.
Gathering all his courage (which he isn't sure he has much of), he
knocks on the door.
If Biff answers though...
Well, he doesn't want to think about it...
George knocks. He hears someone cry from inside "Biff! Get the
door, Biff!"
And then the door opens and there's Biff Tannen.
"McFly! I'm glad you showed up! You caused 300 bucks damage to
my car, and now you're gonna pay!"
Lorraine sidles up behind George. "He just wants his briefcase
back, Biff!"
"Well, lookee what we have here! What'd McFly hire you as his
bodyguard or something, Lorraine?"
"Just give him back his briefcase!" orders Lorraine.
"What's in it for me?"
George should have known this would happen! It always does to him,
doesn't it?!
But what of Lorraine? Biff looks at her in a decidedly disturbing
way...
"Uh...look Biff..." George begins, stepping in front of
Lorraine a bit. "You've...you've pushed me around enough..." He can't
believe he's actually saying this! Does he have a death wish? "I'm...I'm
not going to let you do it anymore."
George wonders how he's going to get out of this alive...
"All right, McFly," says Biff. "You want a fight,
you got one! Now I'll show you what a real man is like," adds Biff,
glancing back at Lorraine and raising a clenched fist.
Lorraine jumps in front of George. "No, don't hurt him,
Biff!"
"Why not?"
"Because ... Because if you do I won't go to the dance with
you!"
Biff slowly lowers his fist. "So if I leave this punk alone
you'll go with me to the dance?"
Lorraine glares at Biff. "Sure I will, but you leave George
alone! And give him back his briefcase!"
George is horrified! Lorraine...go to the dance with Biff? He
shudders to think what Biff will do! And he feels...embarrassed that Lorraine
is the one who's standing up to Biff for him. Why should she?
And then...George bursts out.
"No, she won't!"
"And what are you going to do about it, McFly?" demands
Biff. "Tell you what McFly, give me 400 bucks for the car and I'll refrain
from pounding your face in!"
George actually considers agreeing to this for a moment...but he
doesn't have 400 dollars! Besides! How much suffering has Biff caused him? He
deserves to have his car busted up.
"No, Biff, I won't give you money," George says after
swallowing hard. "Give me back my briefcase!"
"That's it, McFly, I'm not taking anymore lip from you!"
says Biff angrily, taking off his coat. "Go ahead, take the first
shot!"
George takes a very weak swing at Biff...he's never punched anyone
in his life! Not even his cousins!
Biff grabs his arm and the next thing he knows, pain in shotting
through him and he found himself doubled over.
"Biff!" He heard Lorraine gasp. "Let him go! You'll
break his arm!"
George can't say anything, he can only grunt in pain.
"Yeah I will! Then what will you do with that stupid
briefcase, huh?" Biff snarls back.
The pain is terrible! George feels like he's going to die! How did
he get into this...
George swings his fist at Biff. Biff catches his hand and swings
his arm behind him, pulling with all his strength.
ÒBiff! Let him go! YouÕll break his arm!Ó cries Lorraine.
ÒYeah, I will!Ó returns Biff with a snort. ÒThen what will you do
with that stupid briefcase, huh?Ó
George canÕt bear the pain. He thinks heÕs going to pass out. He
closes his eyes. Why did he ever think he could stand up to Biff? He should
have just paid him off. Now heÕs going to end up with a broken arm for all his
trouble and Lorraine will never like him! What a terrible day ...
11/12/1955
8:00 - 8:30 PM
As guns are drawn on them, the two vanish in a flash of
light, reappearing in the same banker in 1955, now hastily abandoned of all
persons.
Doc, Marty, and George decide to work together. First stop is back
to November 12, 1955 to try to hack into WADOTAT's computer. George uses his
device and Marty and Doc fuel up the time machine with garbage and race to the
past.
Marty reminds Doc that Hour Glass joined TORO in 2023 and gained
access to time travel that way. Maybe that can help them prevent WADOTAT's
inception?
George gets in the DeLorean and they hurry to Clayton Ravine before
they're discovered by Doc's younger self.
George gets an amazingly, stupendously brilliant idea. He will go
to the ravine and prevent his wife from traveling to 1985. Quickly they fly
into the ravine and George arrives just in time to stop his wife and give
instructions to his younger self to do things exactly as he did to prevent any
paradoxes or echoes, and young George is on his way.
"Can't you take me up the ravine in the DeLorean?"
"No," says older George. "If I had to do it, so do
you!"
Lorraine quickly zaps back to the base five seconds earlier,
just behind Hour Glass, and shoots him in the head, then quickly zaps back to
the base.
Before George can cry "What did you just do??"
Lorraine fades from existence!
George is devastated by Lorraine's non-existence! He
looks around the bunker. It is identical to the one in 1985 in every way,
except it has that new-hidden base smell.
George wants to use the computer, but is afraid to set off
an alarm, so he quickly leaves the bunker. No cars are in the parking area as
he passes through the tunnels and as he reaches the outside he gazes upward and
thinks what a long climb it will be back to the top once he finds a safe path.
George is determined to make it up the cliff-side, and he finds a
path and begins the long climb. It takes some time, but he manages to make his
way up to solid ground once more. Exhausted, George pauses to catch his breath.
George thinks someone from WADOTAT must have killed Lorraine off some time in the past, so he decides to head to the school to see if she still exists in '55, since he knows she'll be at the school dance that night.
8:30 - 9:10 PM
He arrives after 8:30 PM (having appeared in the bunker at 8:00
PM). The parking lot is full of cars and he can hear music coming from the
auditorium in the school.
George searches the parking lot. Some kids are "parking,"
but he remembers that he was too nervous that night to do so and he and
Lorraine almost immediately went into the dance.
He hears Strickland not too far, chastising Biff Tannen for bringing an "Oh La La Magazine" to the dance.
George enters the school and begins to look around, being careful
not to be spotted himself. He peeks into the doors of the auditorium and sees a
crowd of kids dancing. He spots his younger self, bringing a cup of punch over
to Lorraine, only to trip and spill it all over her blouse! Well, at least he
knows she still exists in '55.
Relieved to find Lorraine still alive in '55, George heads to the
cemetery to check on her grave in the future. To October 26, 2015 he goes
Lorraine and George share a passionate kiss. Now she never
non-existed! And a lesson was learned by all!
Doc and Marty fly the DeLorean into the ravine and enter the
bunker. The door was left open for some reason when George arrived in the past.
They fly into the bunker, through the first tunnel and land in the parking
area. Leaving behind the time machine there, they enter the main bunker with
the main computer terminal.
Doc heads to the computer terminal while leaving Marty to guard the
entrance with the stun gun. Doc turns on the computer and runs a search on Hour
Glass.
"Raised by his father, Biff Tannen, after his mother died in
1977, Biff Tannen Jr. was constantly pushed to be 'better than his old man' and
to never let buttheads like the McFlys push him around. Upon his father's death
bed in 2019, Biff revealed that Doctor Brown invented a time machine to his son
and asked that he take revenge on Brown and the McFlys for ruining his life. A
few years later he volunteered for the secret TORO operation and eventually
used this information to create the organization WADOTAT in 2026. The precise
inception date is unknown."
Any other info that Doc happens to be looking for?
Doc looks up info on NIFADOT.
"NIFADOT came into existence in the year 2980. By this time
WADOTAT had moved its main base of operations to the late 2900'. The NIFADOT
organization was originally formed by its leader, who came from some time prior
to this era, as a way to fight the prejudice against echoes. Within a few years
NIFADOT began its slide to corruption, and began to challenge WADOTAT for sole
control of the time travel underworld. In 2985, after years of battling through
time and space, WADOTAT decided to prevent the inception of NIFADOT by
traveling to 1985 and removing the first two human time travelers, Marty McFly
and Emmett Brown from existence, and recreating the Omega timeline, ommitting
the one event of this timeline, the creation of what is known as timeline
"A," which caused NIFADOT to come into being."
Doc finishes watching the video and then relays to Marty all he
learned. Can they just head to 2026 and prevent WADOTAT from coming into
existence, or will this just cause everyone involved to become a bunch of
echoes. Wouldn't that just complicated things? Poor Doc isn't sure what to do.
After thinking about it for a while, Doc decides that it might be
best to involve TORO and ask for their help. Marty is incredulous, wanting to
solve this problem by themselves. Doc wonders if there isn't a way to tip them
off annonymously. He goes to the computer terminal and looks up info on TORO.
"TORO came into being in 2016, shortly after investigations
revealed that the time barrier had been broken, and has existed for nearly 1000
years. Using the temporal residue of a time portal discovered in 2015, the
government was able to begin work on a secrect organization involved with time
travel. By 2017 time travel became a secret reality, and the goverment learned
of the first time trip in 1985 by Emmett Brown's time machine. After gathering
all this information, the organization became known as TORO and its intent was
to keep what became known as the Omega timeline secure.
"Eventually it progressed to also removing all
extra-curricular time travel activity, after it was officially made illegal in
2025. It was an expansive job, but eventually all time travel outside of the
two main organizations NIFADOT and WADOTAT were eliminated, but these two
powers proved too strong to remove as easily. WADOTAT plans on eliminating both
NIFADOT and the TORO program."
After reading this info, Marty and Doc discuss their
options. Maybe they should travel to the future and give TORO all the info
they've learned and let them take out NIFADOT and WADOTAT. Doc wants to write a
letter to John Luke and deliver all the info they have learned to him.
Doc tells Marty about this plan to send information to John Luke in the future by way of mail, and Marty expresses that hoping that a letter will be delivered 1000 years in the future might not be wise. Doc agrees, thinking they could travel to the future and deliver a letter there to go to John Luke and quickly abandon the time period.
George listens to Marty and Doc's plan and likes the idea, but is worried that WADOTAT and NIFADOT may learn of it and try to interfere by using time travel.
Lorraine wants to get their car from the High School, but I believe
it's still in 1985, 30 years in the future ...
Lorraine assures her son that she and George were just
talking. Marty is glad to pretend it's true.
Lorraine decides that they should head back to the high school and
check the secret bunker (I'm sure if Doc was paying any attention he'd tell you
to be careful not to run into your younger selves!). An empty bunker, George
and Lorraine alone ... I think I see where this is going. Off she and George go
to the high school.
They enter the school parking lot and see that it is full
of cars. They can hear the music of Marvin Berry and the Starlighters coming
from the school auditorium.
Marty and Doc want to join George and Lorraine, hoping to
discover the identity of NIFADOT'S leader. Off in the DeLorean they go, to the
school dance and they meet up with George and Lorraine in the parking lot.
Lorraine manages to convince Doc to let them stay and watch the
dance. Doc agrees, and before he can say any more, the two sneak into the
dance, on hands and knees, and crawl up under a table to watch themselves.
Doc is a little upset that they went into the dance, and
he and Marty watch through the window as young George and Lorraine dance
awkwardly.
George and Lorraine sneak to the stage and up a ladder and onto the
structure overhanging. They look across the stage at their younger selves. Too
bad they don't have popcorn.
Doc and Marty continue to watch from outside.
George and Lorraine watch Dixon approach their younger
selves and attempt to cut in.
George and Lorraine kiss and Dixon gets up and sulks off.
He bangs through the doors, stomping past Marty and Doc. He pulls a device from
his pocket and speaks into it: "It was a failure! The McFly kid stood up
to me! I couldn't break them up! No, you know what Hour Glass said! Killing
those two would be too dangerous. We'll just have to kill their son in the
future, that's all!"
Marty and Doc discuss how they should go about delivering the
letter when they hear Dixon. Marty grabs him and Doc takes his communicator to
listen to the other end.
"Hello? Agent 7? Are you there? Over?" comes a
voice.
"Agent 7 here" I say speaking into the thing,
"Please repeat my current instructions. Over." I try so hard to sound
like a red head.
"Agent 7, did you dye your hair? You sound like a
brunette! Anyway, yes, fine, report back to the Clayton Ravine bunker and
proceed to return to 1985! Hour Glass is set to eliminate the Omega timeline
once and for all!"
"He will hire the Libyan terrorists to work for us.
They will in turn gather information so that we can locate the time machine.
Once we have the time machine we will eliminate Brown and McFly and recreate
the timeline as we see fit! The DeLorean is the key to making sure time travel
takes place, not its creator! Hurry! Today is certain to be an eventful
day!"
"Oh yes, we should buy a cake or something to celebrate."
I shrug my shoulders at Doc and my parents.
"So, once we have the DeLorean, what exactly will we
do with it? Over"
"We'll be able to access the Omega timeline!"
says the man. "You know that! Right now the Omega timeline is gone, due to
our involvement, but the DeLorean can use the temporal residue to access the
identical time portals that were opened with it in previous timelines! We'll
recreate the timeline ourselves, but prevent timeline 'A' from happening! Now
enough questions! Get over here, and I hope you locked that bunker door when
you left!"
As Doc, Lorraine and George head to the bunker, Marty finds some
letters and envelopes and writes his letter to Luke. He then puts in the
destination date "August 23rd, 2985," into his time travel device and
hits the activate button.
Doc enters the bunker, leaving George and Lorraine to guard the
auditorium. He finds a big computer terminal in one corner, and a locked door
with thumb-plate as well. The lights are out and there is a light switch on the
wall.
Clearly, Doc is pissed off at Marty for taking off to the future
without first having all the info on NIFADOT they can gather to give to John
Luke.
Doc enters "The Other" into a search engine. As he clicks
search a screen asking for a user name and password appears.
Doc isn't sure what the password could be. He turns on the lights
to see if he can find anything in the bunker to help him figure out the
password. Doc searches the bunker, but is having trouble finding anything that
can help him. As he searches he hears the door behind him slide open and when
he looks behind him sees Lee aiming a gun at him.
9:10 - 9:30 PM
"That's enough, Doctor Brown," he says. "It's time
you met our leader. Come with me, please."
Doc reaches for his sleep inducer and activates it,
hoping to knock him out. But it has no effect. He is wearing a pair of silver
glasses that don't seem to affect him (did I forget to mention that? ).
"No more games, Brown," he fires the gun at Doc. Luckily
it's just a futuristic stun gun that only paralyzes Doc for the moment.
"NIFADOT is tired of being pushed around. You will now come with us to
meet our leader, whether you like it or not."
Grabbing Doc's limp body by the shoulders, he drags him through the
doorway and through the tunnel toward the shuttle room. Into a shuttle he drags
Doc and soon he is pulling him into the main NIFADOT bunker.
The Other, with a hooded shawl over his face, stands from his chair
throne and comes down the stairs. "Welcome to the NIFADOT base Doctor
Brown. Have a seat."
Lee props Doc up in a chair.
"Now, let's talk Doctor Brown," says the Other.
"Don't worry, you can still talk. You'll just be immobilized for the next
ten minutes or so."
Lovely. . . . Well, as long as I'm here. . . . And I do hope I
traumatized you, Lee.
"Let's get one thing out of the way first. Is the man who
immobilized me, Lee, an echo of someone else? Because we were attacked by
another man who looked exactly like him, and he appeared to be working for the
other organization. I'm not asking for specifics, just yes or no. It's been
bothering me."
"Gladly," says the Other. "Lee, our friend who has
brought you to me, works for me. He is an echo of a man called Hoggle. Hoggle
was supposed to bring Mr. McFly to WADOTAT but when he failed it was decided by
them that he should be eliminated. The man you saw later that day was Mr.
Hoggle's younger self, who came from the past to finsih what he would later
fail to accomplish. He is now in TORO's custody, so you can rest assured that
any version of Lee you see from this point forth will be an ally of NIFADOT and
have no reason to harm you."
"I was wondering why there was such a confusion over his name.
How many people do you have here? I imagine quite a few, what with all the time
traveling."
"Yes, our organization is quite substantial," says the
Other. "It seems that you're a little confused as to who to side with.
Certainly you understand why you can't trust WADOTAT. They have no problem
killing you. TORO only wants to force you to do what they want and to play by
their rules. Really, the only person you can trust is yourself. Look inside
yourself, Doctor Brown, and I'm sure you'll see that NIFADOT is the only
organization you can trust. We're not what TORO would build us to be. I and my
orgainization are not trying to 'take over the world.' We are merely taking
back what belongs to us. Our dignity, our life. Certainly you can understand
that."
"I can understand you wanting your rights and dignity," I
agree. "But what happens to the people that you're echoes of? It would be
very hard to share a life with someone else."
I'm starting to sweat a little. Trust them -- you want to control
me as much as TORO, without the Omega timeline you don't even exist!
"When a person has twins do you have to kill off one because
they'll be sharing each other's lives?" demands the Other. "We are
our counterpoints, certainly, to a point. At a certain deviation in time,
though, we become something different. We become our own person! Individuals!
Sometimes even better than our original counterparts! My own counterpart, for
instance, is a good man, but is a bit blinded to the big picture. My life that
he failed to experience made me see the world in a different light, made me
understand why the government had failed us as people!"
"So you're basically saying that your mission statement is to
get yourselves the rights and freedoms your counterparts have," I say,
starting to get a sneaking suspicion as to who this guy is. "And you went
underground to get away from the government, I assume? To try and change things
in a different way?"
"You understand now," says the Other. "There was no
other way. They can't understand what it's like to be us! We don't intend to
make our timelines official. We only ask for our rights. And my rights! I have
every right to time travel, Doctor Brown! Every right that you have! So why do
you get preferential treatment and I get treated like a menace! You are a God
to them and I am nothing but an insect that must be dealt with! I'm not an
insect! And they will soon learn this!"
I lift an eyebrow. "So what timeline are you from? What's it
like there?" I ask, my suspicions getting deeper. Easy now, Emmett. . . .
"My timeline," asks the Other. "It wasn't
a nice place. Many used to call it 'Hell Valley.' Now people refer to it as
'A.'"
"The world where Biff got the almanac," I say. "The
world where he was rich and powerful. The world where he utterly ruined Hill
Valley."
I take a breath.
"The world in which I was confined to a mental
institution."
"Yes," nods the Other, removing his hood from his face.
"No, living my life in a mental institution because I was supposed to
become you was not a pleasant experience, Doctor Brown. But it taught me
something that you never learned. Life isn't fair. You see, you found the love
of your life and lived happily ever after, while I was deemed unwanted and
excessive! A mistake! Amazing how the same person can become so different
depending on the events of his life.
"And now you know why you must trust me," says
Doc's echo, rising before Doc. "Because, whether you like it or not, I am
you! I know more than you ever will about all of this! And who can you trust
better than yourself?"
I sigh deeply. How did I know. . . .
"Not a pleasant fate, to be sure. Can I ask what
happened to Marty? If you're here from 1985-A, surely he must be. Right?"
"Yes, an echo was created for Marty, not that I ever
met him orignally in my timeline," says the Other. "What became of
him after our timeline was destroyed I'm not sure. Likely he was eventually
hunted down by the hate groups and killed. He was a good kid. I met him in '55,
same as you. Good kid. He didn't deserve that. None of them did!"
I wonder if I should bother to correct him. He must know the Omega
timeline's breaking down around us. No, I won't bother. He seems a little
unstable -- only natural, though.
"I don't doubt none of them deserved what they
got," I reply, looking at my other self. "Nobody deserves that kind
of fate. Is there anything in particular you wanted me to do? Why did you feel
you had to meet with me now?"
"You were interfering with our plans," says the Other.
"We need you alive. Without you I can't exist. The Omega timeline must be
restored. Once WADOTAT is destroyed TORO will assist you in this task. After
that NIFADOT can proceed to take control of the government. They say that I
can't time travel. But I fell off that toilet, Doctor Brown. I had the vision
for the flux capacitor! I remember it as vividly as you do! I have every right
to a life and time travel as you do! And I won't stop until those rights are
realized!
"And now we're going to go back to the bunker and
you and the McFly's are going to stay down there until WADOTAT is destroyed. It
is the only way to ensure your safety. Understand?"
I nod slowly, realizing the effects of the gun have finally worn
off. "Yes, I understand. I understand that I'm a dangerous lunatic. And
before you get mad, I'm not talking about you. I'm talking about me. Look at
all the damage I've done to the space-time continuum. Messing around with lives
in 1885 for my own personal gain. Forcing other people to suffer simply because
they come from extraneous timelines and now no longer have a place in the
world. Hell, look what I've done to myself. You had to spend years in a
sanitarium because of my time travel. Not to mention the trauma I've inflicted
-- and am apparently due to inflict -- on Marty, Jennifer, George, Lorraine. .
. ."
I sigh deeply. "I should have gone when I had the chance.
Should have stopped myself from ever inventing time travel. Don't tell me
anything about you not existing -- if you never exist, you can't care." I
pull out my HoloTool. "As it is, I plan to try and change things right
here." I flick the switch. "Scalpel."
The tool changes into a sharp cutting blade. "By the way,
Marty's gone. I suspect he's in 2985, but I don't know the exact date, and I
don't know where he is. All I know is that he's away from me, and that's a good
thing."
I never thought I'd ever end up doing this. And it's probably not
going to be permanent anyway. But maybe, if the time ripple moves quickly
enough. . . . I'd pay anything to change this.
And it's the sweetest price I'll have to pay.
Today the whole world goes away.
Before my other self can respond, I slit my wrists and
throat. No me. No Omega timeline. No more illicit time travel.
Jesus Christ! Never saw it coming, HFD! *applause*
I honestly don't know where to go from here. Feels like a
"To Be continued ..." sort of ending. Until tomorrow, folks!
ÒAs it is I plan to try and change things right here,Ó says Doc,
turning his holo-tool into a scalpel.
ÒYou canÕt kill me, Doctor Brown,Ó sneers the Other.
Doc smiles sadly, knowingly. Without a word he silently slits his
wrists and throat and collapses to the floor, his blood draining from his body.
ÒNO!Ó cries the Other, but heÕs too late. He feels himself being
erased from existence, and just like that NIFADOT is no more.
Like a great flash of light the bunker that once rested underneath
the Hill Valley High School for so many years vanishes.
Lorraine and George part with shock as DocÕs dead body appears
before them and the door to the underground bunker dissipates.
ÒWhat happened?Ó asks Lorraine.
ÒI - I donÕt know,Ó replies George hesitantly.
Before either can act a group of men in blue suits trumps through
the auditorium door. A familiar face glares at them, rubbing his thumbless
hand.
ÒArrest these two and take away their time control devices!Ó John
Luke commands.
George and Lorraine fight valiantly, Lorraine swinging her machete
and George firing off his gun, but they are soon overpowered by the men and
their time devices taken away and destroyed. They are led out of the school
forcibly.
ÒHeÕs dead,Ó says one TORO agent to Luke.
ÒI can see that,Ó says Luke.
ÒWe have to go back. We have to go back, right? And stop him?Ó
Luke slowly nods. ÒConfiscate the DeLorean for now. Wait!Ó
ÒWhat is it, sir?Ó
LukeÕs eyes bulge with terror. ÒWeÕre too late!Ó
With those words the TORO agents fade from existence, leaving the
auditorium empty of any persons except DocÕs body.
In the school parking lot, a man pushes Lorraine and George into
the back of a black car. Lorraine and George mutter viciously at the man as he
gets in the driverÕs seat.
ÒLorraine and George McFly?Ó he asks.
ÒYes, thatÕs us,Ó says George firmly.
The man whips off his ski mask and looks back at them. ÒYou can
trust me. IÕm going to help you fix all this. You can trust me.Ó
Lorraine is aghast. ÒMarty?Ó
The man smiles weakly. ÒI was, once. But thatÕs a story for another
time. LetÕs get out of here before itÕs too late.Ó
ÒToo late for what?Ó asks George.
ÒTheyÕre coming,Ó says the man, and the car peels out of the parking lot.
